In recent remarks, President Donald Trump pressed European allies to stop buying Russian oil and to increase pressure on China, framing this as a decisive step toward ending the war in Ukraine.
The Boston Global Forum (BGF) views this as a constructive approach. Many democratic nations want peace in Ukraine and express concern about threats from China to democracy. Yet, contradictions remain: while voicing opposition, they continue to conduct significant business with both Russia and China.
If democracies are serious about addressing these threats, they must act with coherence. Business and economic policy are fundamental tools of strategy. Consolidating trade and financial strength, while isolating Russia and China, is essential to reducing their capacity to undermine peace and democratic values.
This moment calls for unity — not only in security guarantees, but in economic solidarity — to create conditions where peace and stability can take root.
BGF–AIWS Perspective: In the Age of AI, security is inseparable from economic and technological governance. The vision of AIWS Government 24/7 emphasizes aligning policies across diplomacy, finance, and technology to strengthen democracy and ensure peace. By consolidating economic cooperation, democracies can face challenges from authoritarian regimes with both resilience and responsibility.

The AIWS Film Park and the Boston Global Forum (BGF) have begun production of a pivotal sequence in the upcoming film Shinzo Abe – A Legacy of Vision and Resilience. Shooting for Scene 12: Closing Tribute – From Nha Trang to the World (2025) will take place on September 8, 9, 16, and 17 in Nha Trang, one of the world’s most beautiful coastal cities.
This scene brings together distinguished voices — including Nguyen Anh Tuan, Yasuhide Nakayama, Vibhav Kant Upadhyay, Ambassador Bach Tra, Ms. Võ Hiếu Dân, and Nham Quynh — who honor and reflect on Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s enduring legacy. Their words, music, and reflections will be filmed in two iconic locations: the President Room of the Potique Hotel and the AIWS House in Nha Trang.
The tribute will culminate in a sunrise sequence on the Nha Trang shoreline, accompanied by the AIWS Peace Symphony, symbolizing how Abe’s vision for peace, security, and humanity continues to inspire leaders and young generations alike.
This filming marks not only a milestone in the Shinzo Abe Film but also the cultural mission of AIWS: to preserve legacies of leadership and translate them into living inspiration for the future.

by Editor BGF | Sep 7, 2025 | World Leader for Peace and Security, News, World Leaders in AIWS Award Updates
Two recipients of the World Leader for Peace and Security Award, President Emmanuel Macron (2024) and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen (2020), are playing visible leadership roles amid ongoing debates about the future of Ukraine and Europe’s security. Their voices underline the continuing responsibility of past BGF–AIWS honorees: to stand at the frontlines of peace, democracy, and security in the face of authoritarian aggression. Macron and von der Leyen exemplify how the culture of leadership promoted by the BGF–AIWS Awards continues to guide policy and inspire action for global stability.
President von der Leyen has emerged as a key trans-Atlantic figure, earning praise from U.S. President Donald Trump for her efforts to strengthen ties. At a recent Group of Seven summit in Canada, she held private discussions with Trump on Ukraine, China, and trade. The U.S. President, long a critic of the EU, even described her as “one of Europe’s most powerful people,” according to The Wall Street Journal, and lauded a trade deal they negotiated in July in Scotland. Von der Leyen has stressed that cooperation with the United States delivers “tangible benefits on both sides.”
President Macron, meanwhile, has pushed for unity among democracies in both security and economic domains. He announced that 26 nations are prepared to provide postwar military backing to Ukraine, either through the deployment of reassurance forces or by maintaining a strong presence across land, sea, and air in the region. Both he and von der Leyen have also voiced concern over the plight of Ukrainian children abducted by Russian forces, underscoring the human costs of the conflict.
Together, Macron and von der Leyen show how the World Leader for Peace and Security Award laureates remain active, shaping not only Europe’s future but also the wider struggle for peace, democracy, and justice.

Artificial intelligence is no longer a future concept for governments — it is becoming a transformational force in public service. A recent report highlights how AI is being adopted across federal, state, and local agencies to modernize operations, improve citizen services, and anticipate crises. From automating routine processes to enabling real-time decision support, AI is reshaping how governments function and interact with their citizens.
Yet, with these opportunities come significant challenges: ensuring transparency, safeguarding data, and maintaining public trust. The message is clear — AI in government must be guided by ethical frameworks and human-centered values to avoid widening inequities or undermining democracy.
For the Boston Global Forum (BGF) and AI World Society (AIWS), these developments resonate directly with the vision of AIWS Government 24/7: governance that is continuous, ethical, and inclusive, harnessing advanced technologies to serve citizens responsibly and build a more enlightened society.
