Mariko Gakiya

Member of BGF’s Editorial Board; visiting scholar of Learning Innovations Laboratory (LILA) of Harvard University

Mariko Gakiya is a visiting scholar of Learning Innovations Laboratory (LILA) of Harvard University that aims to advance the understanding and practices of organizational learning and change.  She also is co-founder and partner of Japan Institute for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and serves as member of the advisory board of Social Hearts (NPO in Japan serving for people affected by the great east Japan earthquake and Tsunami in 2011), meber of the international council of advisors at Asian University for Women (AUW) in Bangladesh.

Her research focuses on leadership innovation, human learning in organization, and global education for human well-being and sustainable ecosystems.

She serves on the executive boards of several organizations and advices leaders of international development organizations, foundations, think-tanks, higher education institutions, and corporations.

She earned a doctorate degree in administration, planning and social policy at Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2004 after her postgraduate work at the University of Oxford.
